Attributing Creative Commons Licensed Work
All CC licenses require end users to provide attribution for the original work, and there are specific elements you should include in an attribution statement. Best practices suggest that you provide the Title, Author, and License when creating the attribution statement for any CC-licensed work.
-
Title: Provide a title of the work you are adopting. Hyperlink the title of the original sources; if no hyperlink is available, describe where you got the work.
-
Author: Name the author(s) of the materials in question. Sometimes, a licensor may want you to give credit to some other entity, like a company or pseudonym - do what they request. If the author has a webpage, link it.
-
License: Provide the exact name of the Creative Commons License under which the work was released and hyperlink the license name to the license deed page; you can use the acronyms instead of the full name of the license.
