Citing Sources

OneSearch and other databases will have the option for you to cite the source you are viewing. These citations are great starting points, but should be checked for accuracy in both the details of the item and citation format.

OneSearch Citations: How-To

Once you have chosen an item to cite in OneSearch, follow these 4 steps:

  1. Under the Send to section, select Citation.
  2. Select your desired citation style.
  3. Select Copy Citation to Clipboard - you can paste your citation using ctrl + v or by right clicking your mouse and selecting paste.
  4. After pasting your citation to your document, be sure to check the citation for accuracy and modify as necessary.
    • Example: in the citation below, the formatting is incorrect because the title of the article should be in sentence case, not title case.

Database Citations: How-To

Once you have chosen an item to cite in a database, follow these 4 steps:

  1. Select the quotation mark icon - this icon typically represents the citation feature in most databases.
  2. Select your desired citation style.
  3. Select Copy Citation to Clipboard - you can paste your citation using ctrl + v or by right clicking your mouse and selecting paste.
  4. After pasting your citation to your document, be sure to check the citation for accuracy and modify as necessary.
