Equipment

Q. Are library printers available? How much does it cost to print?

A. Students get 500 free black and white prints each quarter at the library. There are 4 black & white printers and 1 color printer ($.10 per color print) on the first floor of Raymond Library; there is also 1 black & white printer next to the computers on the second floor study area. You must send your print job to our printers via the desktop computers in the library, located on the first and second floor. The library can also print black and white copies ($.10 per page) and color copies ($1.00 per page). Learn more about our computers and printers here.

Q. How do I login to library computers?

A. Login using your student email that ends with @student.yvcc.edu followed by whatever password you set for that email.

Q. How many computers are in the library?

A. The library has over a dozen desktop computers available for student use as well as 3  computers available for community patron use.

Q. What kind of equipment is there to borrow?

A. The library offers a variety of equipment that you may borrow for free including:

  • Laptops (quarter long checkout; students must bring valid I.D. to checkout)

  • Graphing and Scientific Calculators (quarter long checkout)

  • Expo Markers

  • Headphones

  • Noise Cancelling Headphones

  • Reading Stands

  • Mice (USB cord)

  • And More!

Q. Does the library offer proctored testing?

A. The Library does not proctor tests. If you require a test proctor or an access code for a test in Canvas, go the Computer Lab/Student Testing Center in Deccio 208 and 230 (Building 8).

Q. Does the library have group study rooms available?

A. Yes, our study rooms can be used for individual or group study sessions. Reserve a study room here.

Q. Does the library have my textbook?

A. The library may have your course textbook available as a course reserve checkout - these textbooks are available for 2 hour checkouts and are not available for purchase. Search for your course reserves here - simply enter your course (ex: ENGLISH) in the search bar.

Q: Can I buy my course textbook at the library?

A. No.The library does not handle textbook purchases or rentals, those questions should be directed to the YVC Bookstore. You can call the bookstore for further assistance at (509) 574-4625.

Q. What can a librarian do for me?

Q. Can I borrow materials that aren't available in the collection?

A. We can borrow books and articles on your behalf through our InterLibrary Loan (ILL) service, usually free of charge. You must fill out this ILL form to request an item.

Q. Can I install Microsoft Office 365 on my personal computer(s)?

A. Yes, students, staff, and faculty have FREE access to Office 365. Visit the YVC Student Email & Office 365 page for further instructions.
